Summary:
This case study offers an example of how video-mediated observations can be used to carry out qualitative research when in-person observations are difficult because of real-world limitations, such as distance, safety, and health. The aim of the study was to explore the value of learning communities for adult learners in an adult campus of a tertiary college in Northwest England. The research was disrupted by lockdowns and social distancing during COVID-19. The case study demonstrates how video-mediated observations can be used to study community interactions. The case study will aid other researchers to adopt remote learning technologies to aid in collecting qualitative data.
