- Summary:
- The purpose of this case study is to present a statistical technique in an applied and accessible context. Specifically, we present the concept of linear regression within the context of research assessing the association between vaccine hesitancy and race, income, and perceived discrimination. Linear regression is a statistical tool for assessing the association of one outcome variable with multiple predictor variables. As we lay out the study, we discuss construct measurement and scales of measurement, we describe how variable measurement is important to statistical hypothesis testing, and we describe how linear regression is interpreted, including understanding the meaning of the various estimates (e.g., adjusted R2, p-value). Finally, we present limitations and practical considerations for this type of research.
