Summary:
This dataset is the third article in our three-part miniseries. It offers you the opportunity to cement learning from Article 1, "Navigating the research process: A guided tour into a study on undergraduate university students' stress," and Article 2, "Finalizing the nuts and bolts of the research process: Analyzing data and communicating findings--referee publications versus reporting to practitioners and decision makers." In the Teaching Guide, you will also extend your learning from Articles 1 and 2 and learn how secondary data can be used to conduct a research study using a secondary dataset titled, "Job Applicants by Gender and Ethnicity," sourced from Data.gov. This dataset summarizes gender and ethnicity demographics for 93,448 people who applied for 188 different jobs in the City of Los Angeles during the period 2013-2015. Before illustrating how this dataset can be used for a research study, we will provide insight into secondary data versus primary data and highlight the pros and cons of the two different types of data.
