- Summary:
- The purpose of this case study is to illustrate how we practiced narrative métissage, an Indigenous research methodology, as non-Indigenous researchers. We engaged in an arts-based collaborative autoethnography to explore our growing understanding of scholarly impact using various concepts from transformative learning. In this case study, we discuss the process and ethical challenges we experienced as non-Indigenous researchers while engaging with narrative métissage. After an introduction to our research project and purpose, we provide a detailed description of using narrative métissage in the context of collaborative autoethnography. Then we discussed the ethical challenges we experienced in different stages of this project, including research conceptualization, data collection and analysis, and publishing. Finally, we described the lessons learned in the process and suggestions to researchers interested in using narrative métissage and arts-based methods.
