Summary:
This qualitative Case Study explored Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Technical and Vocational Training Institute English teachers' perceptions and practices of learner-centered approaches. Data were collected from interviews, a focus group discussion, and classroom observations involving 12 participants. Findings indicated positive views of benefits, but observed practices remained predominantly teacher centered. Barriers existed between conceptual endorsement and implementation difficulties. Differentiating perceived benefits from contextual constraints requires place-based adaptive support through collaborative partnerships, contextualized interventions, and reforms enabling full paradigm shifts. Future research employing participatory co-inquiry designs can build on emerging understandings to refine evidence-based implementations of learner-centeredness across diverse educational communities.
