Manuscript price ("6/8d") at head of front free endpaper; largely illegible manuscript inscription in pencil on blank leaf following front free endpaper. Dated 19th-century manuscript ownership inscription ("Jotham Freeman s Book China [that is, China, Maine] Jan. the 31 1822"), probably of Jotham B. Freeman (1803-1871) on front free endpaper; autographs of the same person on blank leaf following front free endpaper; manuscript ownership inscription ("Jotham Freeman,s not his Jotham Freeman,s Book.") on page opposite title leaf; partial autograph of the same person ("Jotham Free Vassalbr [that is, Vassalboro, Maine]") on blank leaf following last printed leaf. Bookseller's description of this copy laid in."[R]ubbed, label to spine partially lacking, small piece missing just beneath headcap, corners worn through, edges rubbed, [front free endpaper] loose, dampstaining affecting first quire, spotting and browning throughout, marginal damage affecting 11 leaves with no loss of text, one quire roughly opened at top edge shaving a few characters."--Bookseller's description.
