- Der vorliegende Band widmet sich den balneomusikalischen Kommunikations- und Interaktionsräumen der Frühen Neuzeit (1450-1750) und untersucht performative und reflexive Aspekte von Musik im Badekontext. Dabei wird zunächst von der sozialen Praxis der Bade- und Kurmusik (heterologische Dimension) ausgegangen und ihr Einsatz zwischen angewandter Diätetik, künstlerischer Praxis, sozialer Kommunikation und Theorie reflektiert. Ergänzend dazu werden in einem weiteren Schritt die innermusikalische Eigenlogik (autologische Dimension) betrachtet und somit Formen, Gattungen und institutionelle Ausprägungen der Bade- und Kurmusik im dynamischen Zusammenspiel von curare und delectare, narratio und moralisatio präsentiert. Durch die Analyse von Textquellen und Musikalien aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum zeigt sich ein neues interdisziplinäres Verständnis der Bade- und Kurmusik in ihrem funktionalen Vollzug sowie ästhetischen Potential.
