This book details the prevention and management of perineal trauma during childbirth, which affects millions of women worldwide every year. A repair for such trauma is one of the commonest procedures undertaken in medicine, but this procedure is not without a number of issues. It is an area of clinical practice that falls between two subspecialties (maternal medicine and urogynecology), is assessed and repaired by two independent professions (obstetricians and midwives), and its complications are managed by a large multidisciplinary team.
