- Summary:
- On-schedule deployment, effective maintainability, and supportability of US military operational weapon systems depends on efficient and timely training of personnel maintaining and operating these systems. Front-end Instructional Systems Development applied early in weapon system design assists with developing, testing, and implementing training systems to support the deployment of emerging weapon systems. Currently, the Department of Defense sponsors the Joint Service Instructional Systems Development/Logistic Support Analysis Record (ISD/LSAR) Decision Support System (DSS) to support the early ISD decision-making process. The DSS provides an automated Joint Service ISD process and an automated LSAR-to-ISD data interface. The automated capabilities eliminate labor-intensive data handling tasks and allow training developers to effectively focus on the analyses of training systems requirements. Automated ISD analysis procedures with flexible data management techniques streamline the ISD functions, eliminate redundant tasks and data, improve analysis quality and effectiveness, and reduce cost and lead time
