Summary:
It is generally accepted that a parallel hybrid system is the most feasible possibility known today for high speed cross country driving with an electric vehicle. Past efforts have demonstrated great difficulty in driveability and synchronization of two drive systems. Even with the high-efficiciency motor generators available today, a series system would only be successful for short range (200 miles).A parallel hybrid design using a dual drive system is described solving the problems of driveability and synchronization. This system eliminates power losses from multi-clutches, multi-shafts and expensive gear boxes. A vehicle equipped with the dual drive system has been tested for eight years and for more than 20,000 miles meeting all design parameters without a single failure.The system is designated "Automatic Hybrid/Electric Vehicle with Full Time ICE Cruise Control". The prototype is now availabile for test drives
