Summary:
ABTRACTDiesel engines have become the prime power source for many industrial and commercial applications thanks to their reliability, rugged construction and fuel economy. However, concerns over the effect of diesel exhaust (health, visibility, soiling, ect.) have "tarnished" the image of these engines.Regulatory agencies in North America and Europe have published stringent emission requirements. Increased stringency is anticipated in the years to come, which make necessary the use of diesel particulate filters. This paper describes a fully automatic particulate trap system developed by Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (KHD), which offers a solution to the problem of particulate emission. Such a system is suitable for installation in new vehicles as well as retrofitting of existing ones
