The part-task simulator at McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Company was developed so that Human Factors personnel could perform a variety of studies prior to utilizing a full -mission simulator. The capability of this device permits the designer to "test" many iterations of format-display logic concepts in a "realistic" flight environment. It permits the designer to dynamically develop and interact with the variety of display formats under consideration, thereby reducing evaluation time.
