- Summary:
- This paper covers the design consideration required to provide clearing vision areas required by the driver under inclement weather conditions, Direct and indirect vision standards are determined by J1050a, J941, J834, and J985 which define what areas the driver must have available for operation of a vehicle. Recommended practices J902, J381, J382, and J953 cover inclement weather operation of defrosting systems. Since vehicles are operated under many ambient and weather conditions, consideration for design of clearing systems in accordance with these recommended practices will be discussed. This paper will also discuss the clearing in inclement weather of the side window area and the effect defrosting/defogging systems have on vehicle occupant comfort and subjected noise level
