The case for an irreversible, fully active suspension system is presented. The case is based upon the authors' experience of designing and developing the Lotus Active Suspension System over a seven year period. To date over thirty research vehicles have been fitted with the System, and work is well advanced to develop versions for installation in production road vehicles
