Summary:
This paper proposes a methodology to perform a journal bearing fatigue analysis.The analysed hearing is part of an internal combustion engine balancer shaft system, Press fit stresses due to assembly condition and cyclic hydrodynamic stresses due to oil film pressure are analysed using the Finite Element Method.After that, a bearing fatigue life method is presented and, as an example, the method is applied to a four cylinder spark ignited engine with 70 kW at 6000 rpm
