Summary:
1. AbstractElectronic control technology for automobile has recently been employed not only in power train control but also in chassis components such as suspensions and brakes in order to enhance the riding comfort and safety by improving the fundamental performance of automobiles to a higher dimension. This is now possible because semiconductor technology represented by microcomputers has reached a level which is sufficiently acceptable by automobile concerns in regards to factors such as cost and reliability. Also, many types of semiconductor sensors are currently in practical use for detection of physical or chemical data. This paper describes new intelligent sensors that were recently developed in Japan, they are integrated single or plural sensors and amplifying circuits on single chip with LSI manufacturing technology.1)2)The intelligent sensor is characterized by a far higher level of performance, smaller size and lower cost than the above mentioned semiconductor sensors
