In 1984, Opel introduced a modular cockpit assembly concept in the Kadett, pre-assembling the cockpits at stationary workplaces to customer order. In 1986, a second generation cockpit assembly concept followed in the Omega, featuring computer controlled and fully automatic loading, bonding and bolting of the cockpit.
