- Summary:
- Airlines have successfully employed engine monitoring to reduce cost of ownership. Expectations for new engines are leading to in-built, comprehensive instrumentation coupled with more sophisticated data analysis on the ground.Prime motivators for monitoring are reduced costs of operation, improved maintenance procedures and workshop utilisation and enhanced visibility of fleet/engine condition and operation. These depend in part on accurate gas path performance analysis and trending and diagnosis to module level. Mechanical condition functions also contribute by monitoring/trending changes in rotor balance, oil and other system parameters
