Summary:
Noise reduction methods for condenser cooling fans for automotive air conditioners are studied in this paper and the following result were obtained.A new type fan having forward skewed blades was developed and the noise level of the new fan was 6 dB(A) lower than that of the fans now in use. The shapes of the fan shroud and motor stay have a strong influence on the noise level and it is found that optimize them is effective in the noise reduction of the fan. By applying the above mentioned improvements to condenser cooling fans, 9 dB(A) reduction in fan noise level achieved. To improve the stalling characteristics on the fan performance, suction rings were found to be effective for stabilizing the flow and reducing the noise level
