- Summary:
- This paper presents a new approach to evaluating the total optional equipment heat rejection capacity required and a unique method to cool the optional fluids (engine or transmission oil, charge air, freon) of a passenger car. Through the analysis of the heat rejection requirements of each optional equipment, it is seen that maximum requirements of each occur at different driving conditions. By using a common cooling circuit between the optional equipment, the heat loads can be collected into a single fluid and dissipated into the ambient via one fluid/air heat exchanger. The benefits include a reduction in the area required to package the heat exchangers at the front of the vehicle and less wasted heat exchanger capacity
