This paper will focus on key technological advances in engine technology, fuels and lubricants, and aftertreatment needed to meet the more demanding future standards. An optimum solution will involve the cooperative efforts of EPA, the petroleum industry, truck manufacturers, engine and component manufacturers, as well as truck users.
