This field test is intended to validate the in-service durability and useful life of particulate traps for heavy-duty vehicle application. The test program is being conducted solely for the purpose of investigating the potential of the ceramic fiber coil trap (2). Oxidant-induced regeneration (3) is utilized only as a research technique for permitting trap testing in the vehicle. The results obtained from this test program should not be considered as demonstrating the feasibility of this type of regeneration method for future commercial use
