Summary:
This paper introduces an improved heat exchanger for motor vehicle air conditioning systems, of which one example is the drawn cup type evaporator. Our first objective was to provide improved temperature distribution on the surface of the evaporator core and thus achieve high cooling performance. The newly developed evaporator is the first drawn cup type evaporator in the world to utilize the "Counter Flow Heat Exchange Method". Our second objective was to achieve low air resistance for the evaporator core in combination with a new block type expansion valve. The cooling performance of the evaporator has been increased approximately 4% and air resistance decreased 10% (at air flow 420m3/hr) compared with the best conventional evaporator
