- Summary:
- This paper describes the application of the Motorola 68020 microprocessor as a monitoring system for the propulsion gas turbines used onboard a fully amphibious air-cushion vehicle, the LACV-30. The development of this monitoring system is a multi-phase program aimed at improving operator performance and craft maintenance. Phase I, completed in March 1987, demonstrated the ability of the system to interface with existing craft sensors and present this information in a format similar to the existing instrumentation console. Other system capabilities included alarm annunciation, fault logging, fault retrieval and user programmable alarm setpoints. In subsequent phases, this system will evolve into a prototype system that will be capable of periodic recording of performance data, fault detection, fault isolation, self-testing, and maintenance diagnostics
