- Summary:
- This paper outlines a new device which has proved to be effective for reducing noises from automobile exhaust pipes. The device is basically a combination of two seal bearings (semispherical packings) and a few coil springs. The device has a link motion function about the seal bearings and the reduction of noise levels is achieved by adjusting the spring-mass system that comprises those bearings and springs. The device has a structure that makes positive use of the friction between the bearings and housing. This new device is an epoch-making product which is free from a number of disadvantages in conventional devices used for the same purpose
