An industrially-sponsored, multiyear research program entitled Advanced Powder Processing has been initiated at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The early research focus is on binder-assisted processing of metal, ceramic, and intermetallic powders and their composites, principally by injection molding. The research program is uniquely muitidisciplinary, involving materials science, powder processing, polymer processing, computer-aided design and analysis, and process and quality control.
