- Summary:
- Hot wear properties of both cast and powder metal Insert alloys have been determined using experimental design and statistical analysis techniques. One of the newly developed powder metals alloys (VMS-643) shows promise as a potential "heavy-duty" insert material. This alloy ranked the highest in screening tests for hot-wear resistance. A positive correlation is shown between the ranking of the hot-wear screening tests and actual engine dynometer tests
