Summary:
The "Information Age" and the growth of electronics on vehicles are driving forces behind the "personalized" vehicle. The vision is a responsive vehicle where the powertrain, ride, instrumentation and interior can be customized by the driver. A strategy to personalize the vehicle is presented; first, through market research to identify new features, and second, ergonomic design for easy to use displays and controls. Changes in society that are driving forces are discussed along with the counter balancing need for ergonomic design.
