Summary:
The Radio-Data-System (RDS) in VHF FM sound broadcasting enables transmission of tuning aids, switching signals, radio text as well as other information.To clarify compatibility, safety of data transmission and acceptance of the RDS system in West Germany, the ARD started a trial period from mid 1984 till mid 1985.The FM Data Coder DMC supplied by ROHDE and SCHWARZ is designed as a combination of RDS- and Traffic-Radio coder in order to procure best operation conditions.The modulator with double sideband modulation for RDS and amplitude modulation for traffic radio provide time functions in the 57-kHz-range, available in the EPROMS
