A National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) sponsored program is underway to establish an Environmental Control and Life Support System (ECLSS) technology research and development plan to ensure the cost-effective ECLSS technology will be available when advanced manned space missions are being defined and preliminary designs must be established.
