- Summary:
- The outstanding corrosion protection provided by cationic epoxy primers has enabled manufacturers from many different industries to offer assurances of improved product appearance and performance. However, resistance to ultraviolet light, few color selections, and poor color control are limitations that have restricted the utility of this technology to primers.During the last several years, acrylic polymers have been adapted for use in cationic products both as primers and one-coat enamels. These materials provide high gloss color controlled finishes that require exterior durability without sacrificing corrosion protection. A review of the technologies and properties that represent cathodic topcoats will be presented and compared with today's epoxy products
