An unique salt bath nitriding/oxidizing process has been developed that provides excellent corrosion resistance and cosmetic appeal for ferrous based components. The treatment, identified as QPQ, also enhances the other engineering properties normally associated with salt bath nitriding, id est wear resistance, lubricity, and fatigue strength. QPQ is currently specified for many automotive applications where corrosion resistance is pre-requisite to successful performance
