Summary:
Radial shaft lip type seals for engines are constantly subject to new developments as far as materials and constructions are concerned. The development of fluorpolymer materials, intensively pursued during the last few years, has been intended to take the aggravated running conditions of today's high performance engines into account. To decide which material is best for a specific application, a designing engineer has to discriminate between two fluorpolymers, the dihydroxy and the peroxide type, and PTFE.New geometric developments like micro radial shaft lip type seals are supposed to provide solutions that are functionally better yet do not get more expensive as the two component version is used
