- Summary:
- Finite element methods have been developed to assist the design of engine structures for low noise and vibration levels. Two basic forms of engine structure have been modelled. Predicted free and forced vibration levels have shown good agreement with experimental results. Guidelines have been defined for finite element model generation and for forced loadcase definition.Radiated noise has been predicted, overall agreement with experimental measurements is good. Work is continuing to develop noise prediction techniques
