Summary:
This paper outlines several factors that have affected aircraft turbine engine maintenance, including maintenance process evolution, fuel price changes, and airline deregulation. Industry reaction to these stimuli is outlined, and the response of engine manufacturers to challenging, product support requirements resulting from these factors is discussed. Specifically, there are four areas of improved response: customer support, communications with customers, maintenance management programs, and logistics support. The future in aircraft engine support will be strongly influenced by emerging communications technology
