Summary:
The use of electronic controls with off-highway vehicles and systems is an increasing trend.(1)* It is, therefore, necessary to use a clearly defined and objective evaluation process to determine the control requirements. This paper, directed toward the mechanical design engineer, discusses a method to determine control needs and to avoid some of the pitfalls of electronic controls implementation. A look at the evolution of electronic vehicular controls at Twin Disc should provide some insight for others who are in the process of developing their own systems
