Summary:
Friction material manufacturers, while providing excellent friction material selection and basic performance characteristics, cannot possible test and prove all of the applications and 1 imitations which their friction materials will be subjected to. On the other hand, with some exceptions, most equipment manufacturers using friction materials expect the friction material to be matched to their particular equipment performance requirements. This screening and matching of friction material to function requirements must be done by the clutch component provider. This paper covers some of the test procedures for friction material evaluation by one clutch component manufacturer
