- In order to enlighten the expected trends and opportunitieswithin the field of technologies for passenger cars, severalstudies were realized recently. The unique nature of differentstudies is to be seen in the Delphi-like methodology askingselected experts and, implicitly or explicitly, assuming the globalcompass which is specifying the design and use of future cars.Reporting essential conclusions of the surveys it is identifiedthat the trend towards international standardization andequalization of vehicle weights and drive unit design observed inthe past could continue, a diversification in the energy sectorcould occur and the use of new materials could support the effortsto increase the quality. Several electronic devices will beinstalled in order to supervise and control the function of thevehicle. Independent of national influences, a continuousdevelopment without any decisive or revolutionary changes isexpected
