- Summary:
- During recent years, sales of elevating scrapers have increased at a much faster rate than conventional scrapers. This is a result of the versatility of elevating scrapers as well as reduction in job size and nature in the U.S. (e.g., road rebuilding rather than new construction). The elevating scraper's work-alone capability becomes a decisive economic factor in most soil conditions, especially when only one scraper is required for each project. The 615 Elevating Scraper (Fig. 1) is an addition to the Caterpillar elevating scraper family. Rated at 12.2m3 (16 yd3), the 615 is between the 8.4m3 (11 yd3) 613 and the 16.8m3 (22 yd3) 623. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the design of the 615
