- We consider the effect of Localized, time-periodic surface heating and cooling over a curved surface. This is a mechanism for the active control of unstable disturbances by phase cancellation and reinforcement. It is shown that the pressure gradient induced by the curvature significantly enhances the effectiveness of this form of active control.
