Summary:
World competition demands that American industry practice the "new" management system. The task in this "new" system is continuous improvement in all areas of operations. In order to achieve this we need everyone/ starting with the top management, to want to do it. We must train them to understand and use Human Relations and the tools of variation. In addition to Statistical Tools, the key tools of variation are Imagineering and Industrial Engineering. We use these tools to find all the waste and its causes - material (including energy), capital, and time of people. We then eliminate the waste. In order to be world competitive, the automobile industry and its suppliers need to use Human Relations and the "full bag" of tools of variation. The USA cannot be world competitive unless the automotive industry is. Technology and capital investment are not enough
