Summary:
Computer aided static analysis is used to establish pressures and flows in different parts of a hydraulic system under varying working conditions. This analysis is achieved by mathematically modelling the combined behavior of each component in the system. The model is run on a computer where the necessary solutions of a set of nonlinear equations can easily be determined. A powerful and convenient computer program, STAF, operates the model. This paper outlines the program and discusses its achievements in terms of improved hydraulic system performance. The system being investigated might be used for a forklift truck or other application. The analysis technique and STAF are very effective for designers and researchers to use to investigate, compare, improve and optimize hydraulic systems before or after building a system
