Summary:
Today, in the automotive/industrial manufacturing industry we are witnessing a technology explosion, particularly as it relates to the use of on board electronics on all types of vehicles, ranging from the most exotic sports car to all types of heavy equipment. The use of electronics to control such things as fuel injection, ride level, engine performance and transmission controls, to name a few, are becoming more the rule rather than the exception. One particular support system that has basically remained untouched throughout this evolution has been the vehicle charging system - the "power source" that allows all the other electronics to function. It is the intent of this presentation to discuss this basic system and to explore some potentials that are already there waiting to be tapped
