Summary:
The ECOTRONIC ~ an electronically controlled carburetter system ~ is actually used in series by two car manufactures. The results of these projects with differing emission requirements are described. Emissions, fuel economy and driveability have been optimized. The electronically controlled functions are: - start and warm up control - acceleration enrichement - idle speed control - deceleration cut off and control, engine stop The extension of the ECOTRONIC by closed loop control at stoichio-metric air/fuel ratio (Lambda=1) and a combination of mixture formation and ignition and self-diagnosis are shown
