Summary:
Reports of deposit buildup and plugging of high output air compressors and related air systems on heavy vehicles have been increasing.Surveys reveal that the percentage of time running in the unloaded mode, oil passing rate, operating temperatures, and oil formulation affect the rate of deposit formation. Choice of detergent/dispersant/inhibitor chemistry and of viscosity-improving polymer are important.Cooperation by equipment builders and oil formulators can assure added durability for air compressors in service
