The combustion process plays an important role in the transformation of the chemical fuel energy into mechanical work. It mainly depends on the combustion chamber configuration. Today's mathematical models and theoretical knowledge being unable of furnishing realistic forecasts on the combustion process with all its effects, such information is mostly obtained through experimental investigations.
