- Summary:
- The Comprex pressure-wave machine is well qualified forsupercharging automotive Diesel engines, demonstrating as it does, improvements in power output, fuel consumption and emissions. Thespecial form of the charging characteristics is established fromtheoretical considerations of the pressure wave compressionprocess.Data from the currently available production machines show, withthe aid of supercharging parameters, such a pressure ratio, densityratio and adiabatic compression efficiency, the operating limits ofthe machine with respect to cell filling and pressure-wavetuning.A computer program, interpolating from measured data and using asimplified model of the engine, allows optimisation of aninstallation considering Comprex type, shaft drive ratio, chargeair cooling and control system functions. The correlation of the program with measured values is adequatefor the purpose of engine-to-Comprex matching
