Summary:
Electromagnetic and electromechanical components of an automobile can be analyzed using magnetic finite element computer programs. The programs calculate magnetic fields and electrical performance parameters of a wide variety of magnetic devices. Examples are given of two dimensional analyses of a permanent magnet blower motor and of a horn. Also, calculations of three dimensional magnetic fields and performance of an alternator are presented
