- Summary:
- This presentation is intended for those people that are not already strong users of a CAD/CAM system. The presenters attempt to show the capabilities of typical CAD/CAM systems today - from basic model construction, drawing creation, kinematic studies, analysis and system management.Productivity gains, cost justification are often difficult to define or confirm. Numerous user surveys do, however, show a consistency of the areas and extent of gain. The presenters review the results of these surveys to provide the non-user with an appreciation for where his business might gain from use of a CAD/CAM commitment. In many cases the commitment to acquire a CAD/CAM system is not based on a cost justification, but rather on the need for shorter lead time cycle, better accuracy, or the ability to transfer data in a customer/supplier relationship. The various hardware choices and associated costs will be reviewed to provide some insight into which system type would be best suited to the new user's business
