- Summary:
- Customer needs for more reliably sealed engines have led to integral Statistical Process Control applications in quality assurance of "hard" gaskets. This paper describes implementation of such through-process SPC systems with approaches involving close looped and open looped process variables. A supportive Failure Prevention Analysis approach is also described for determining criticality of part characteristics and evaluating potential failure modes relative to process capabilities. Implementation with top management commitment and integrated Employee Involvement efforts has provided an operating environment for continuing product and process improvements
